Media Literacy at Seeley-Swan High School
In April, Seeley-Swan High School students will read Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird. To put one of the book’s main themes — empathy for others — into practice, students will work with the Montana Media Lab to interview and photograph people they don’t know in their community. Current and former UM School of Journalism students will help teach Seeley-Swan students the audio and photo storytelling skills they need to complete their project.
Facebook for Newsrooms & Journalists
The Montana Media Lab, Facebook and the Society of Professional Journalists is offering a 90-minute free training to help newsrooms and journalists understand how to track users and followers on Facebook, how to use the platform in your reporting and best practices in video and photos on Facebook. Over the course of five days, NPR Story Lab senior producer Michael May will guide participants through reporting, editing and mixing an audio feature.
